Introductions are in order...
"Some sort of quote that means a lot to me and is also very telling of who I am as a person..."
Hi humans! I'm thrilled you are reading my words right now, especially in a time of seemingly endless blog posts. Point being: welcome to my personal blog/website/portfolio yada yada....
I decided I wanted to include a blog on my site because how else are you supposed to know anything about me? I don't assume any of you have Jedi mind-reading powers (if you do please be friends with me) so I figured writing things down and then blasting them into the world via interweb would be the way to go.
So, to formally (or by inter web) introduce myself, my name is Courtney Meili. I have been alive 22 years and I've spent all of them living in the weird, beautiful, smallish town of Eugene, Oregon. I am a Senior at the University of Oregon (GO DUCKS) and I'll be a graduated person as of June 15th in spring.
Here is a picture of my face and SKO DUCKS
Anyone from Eugene knows Spencer's Butte is one of the best hikes ever. Follow any instagrammer from the Eug and you will see this view at least once.
I'll be sharing more about myself as we travel together on this magical journey, but hey I'll give you a couple freebies.
Let's start with the basics. My parents and my sister are some of my best friends. I've learned a lot about who I want to be from them. Plus, I think we are awesome. Here we are at King Estate Winery pretending we are a picture-perfect family, and then the other picture is how we actually are. My sister's name is Haley and the girl in the Rudolph onesie is my magnificent friend and roommate Ash.
//What would we do without family? Let's be real.
Of course, my family wouldn't be complete without my doggy friends. On the left is Peaches, on the right is Dash. They are my favourite.
My average day consists of class, homework and coffee. Sometimes all at the same time. Ash and I can be found pretty much daily working on stuff at our fave local coffee shop, Vero Espresso. I like to dream about the day I will be able to go there to like, read a book, or something. Nonetheless, if you're in Eugene and enjoy coffee beverages, definitely go to Vero.
My go to's at Vero: A lavender latte, and they have an awesome mocha. Also, everything they have is awesome.(featuring: Ash's hands)
If you couldn't tell by my site, pretty much all my hobbies smoosh right into my work. I have a genuine love for telling stories through photography and design. It's one of those things where I can't sleep at night because I want to get out there and do stuff. I just love it so much and want to be get better every day. Like, so badly. I'm being 100% honest here. I want to share my heart on here, so there is my disclaimer.
So now here is the fun stuff. The throwback pictures. I feel like for you guys to understand who I am now you should probably see how awesome and awkward I used to be.
I graduated from Churchill High School in 2011. (Can't believe I will be getting my Bachelor's diploma soon..)
For those of you who don't now, I played volleyball for most of my life and I miss it a lot. I almost played in college but last minute decided that it wasn't what I was supposed to do.
I am a Potterhead. I won't deny it. This is probably my favorite picture of all time. My bestie Kaitlyn is dressed up as Harry, I am Ron, and Santa is..Santa.
This may be some of the only documented proof that I used to play the oboe, In fact, I played it for seven years. This pic was taken backstage before a performance in high school. I believe I am 16 or 17 here.
Here is the reason you will never see me with short hair again. Ahh those awkward middle school selfies...
Like so many other people (and photographers) I absolutely love to travel. Some of the places I've been able to travel abroad to are Mexico, Greece, Turkey, and France. In 29 days I will be flying over to Germany to meet up with my sister who is studying abroad there right now! I am just so excited.
Here is Ash and I in Francisco Murguia, Mexico in 2014. We helped build houses with a group called "Mission to Mexico."
Here I am in Turkey on a school trip in 2010.
Here I am with my good friends McKenzie (left) and Lyla (right) in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France in 2012.
Well, I think that's enough photo-sharing for today. If I've bored you by now, well, you probably aren't reading this reading any more.
I would also like to say that everything I do and everything I am is because Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. The only thing I am sure of in this world is that He saved me and He loves me. My purpose is glorify Him because He breathed life in me. I say this because it is a crucial part of my being, and I will talk about it in the future. I would also like to say that everyone is different and I love to hear about how other people have come to believe their own personal truths in their lives.
With that said, I would love to make a new friend, so introduce yourself sometime. Feel free to look around at some of my work on here as well, I super duper appreciate the encouragement.
Until next time! -Courtney
